Here’s a look at some of Sakura Kinomoto’s most dangerous Clow Cards/Sakura cards and death-defying captures. Special note between reading the new collectors edition that goes up to volume five and the Omnibus collection I’ve completed a full reread of the series before creating this list.
- Watery. Although ultimately capturing watery was not too difficult for Sakura, when it first appeared it tried to drown not only Sakura but several of her friends. When she did capture it she did so by freezing it.
2. Illusion
The Illusion card is yet another card that tries to drown Sakura. By making her believe she sees her mother at the bottom of a lake.
3 Sword
When her friend Rika Chan gets possessed by the sword card, both Sakura and Syaoran are in danger. They bicker because Sakura, of course, doesn’t want to hurt her friend.
4. Mirror
Mirror doesn’t hurt or put Sakura in danger. She tricks Sakura’s brother, Toya. Toya realizes she isn’t human and tries to help her anyway. He ends up with a broken leg for his trouble. Although there is a beautiful apology scene. I always thought the mirror was the most beautiful of the cards.
5. The Erase Card.
The erase card misbehaves by making many of Sakura’s friends disappear during a test of courage. Sakura is saved from a burning bridge by Syaoran. In fact it is in this chapter in the original manga where we really start to see his attitude towards Sakura change.
6. Earthy and Firey
I have grouped Earthy and Firey together because she faces them in the same chapter. They both give her a run for her money, tearing up the town. However, I think Firey causes more direct harm to Sakura’s person.
7. Yue
Although he is a guardian, Yue gets a special mention because he duels Sakura as her judge. To determine if she is worthy to be the new master of the cards. Eventually, he, like Kero-chan, loves her not simply as a master but as a friend.
