My Boyfriend In Orange, Vol. 1 Review

Moe Sasaki meets firefighter Kyosuke Ebihara after being accidentally rescued during a school fire drill. They meet again by chance after he helps her adorable little brother Ryu. Sasaki opens up to Ebihara by telling him that their father has recently passed away. Her father was also a firefighter. Ebihara encourages her to do her best and they become friends after she is rescued from an actual fire set by an arsonist.

Due in part To Ebihara’s encouragement, Sasaki becomes friends with Sayumi Who basically starts shipping the pair beginning in chapter 1. Sasaki’s little brother Ryu, is a bit of a scene stealer who clings to Ebihara This can sometimes make Sasaki childishly jealous. Although Ebihara hesitates to get closer to Sasaki at first, being a bit shy and rough around the edges, he eventually relents.  He can’t help but rescue her from situations big and small.
Throughout this first volume Sasaki tries her best for her sincerity to shine through When it comes to thanking Ebihara. Some attempts are more successful than others. (She burns The rice porridge while he is sick.) Sasaki may be the definition of clumsy, or as Ebihara calls her a “danger magnet,” but she. just might rescue his heart.

Rating 10/10 I’ll definitely be continuing this series. Overall I love volume one. The premise has a unique aspect with Ebihara being a firefighter. The relationship dynamic reminds me of the couple in Dengeki Daisy. Perhaps with a little more clumsiness thrown in.
