Love In Focus, Vol. 2 Review

So far, what I really enjoy about the manga is Mako’s absolute passion for photography. I’ve read a lot of manga where the protagonists have skills such as cooking (Tohru from Furuba) or acting. (Kyoko from Skip Beat!) This is the first time where the protagonist has such an interesting skill. So, thanks for that, Mako.

Now, on to the review! Volume 2 opens up with the reminder that shots have been fired. Kei lays claim to Mako and tells Amemura to stay in his lane.

Unfortunately for Kei, Amemura can’t help but melt like a marshmallow when it comes to Mako.  He even had a small hero moment that gave me all the feels.

As for Kei and his feelings towards Mako, although hinted at in volume 1, we get some background in this volume. He comes from a strict over-achieving family, and Kei feels Mako and photography saved him from that. He realized his feelings for Mako in middle school but has yet to tell her. So as far as Kei chan is concerned Amemura is a big threat.

I feel as though, compared to the pacing of the rest of this volume, the final 2 chapters fly by.  Mako suffers a small injury at photography camp, which the kids of the boarding house “Lens Inn” attend together thanks to the rich Lucas Sempai, who offers his home.

Tamaki senpai vibes

After this small injury, the jealous Kei confesses his feelings and asks Mako to think of him. Our poor girl Mako doesn’t take it well because she thinks so hard about it that she gets a fever as a result. In fact, Amemura explains to Mako that Kei means he wants her to think of him as a man and to take him out of the childhood friend category. The love triangle is heating up everyone and i don’t even know who to root for! Kei? Amemura kun? Lucas Senpai just because he’s so Tamaki senpai-like in nature? The next volume is the last. Look forward to it!

I don’t know who she’ll pick.
But Our girl sure has options.
